Read my story
Hi, I’m Carey, founder of essence!
After 20 years in my previous industry, an unexpected redundancy left me feeling completely lost. Desperate to rewrite my story and find daily joy, I built essence to be everything I needed: a bright, positive space designed to make you smile.
Now, a proud small team, we are celebrating our third year of trading, with 2 awards and a physical store front!
Our goal is help you refuel your dopamine with a vibrant collection of colourful home décor, handpicked from independent brands, local artists, and unique makers.✨️
Truly independent
No massive corporate warehouses here. Essence is entirely run by Carey, fuelled by a passion for bright, beautiful and great customer service.
Mindfully sourced
Carey hand selects unique, high quality pieces designed to lift your mood and add instant personality to your home.
Delivered with love
Carey wraps and packs every single package with love and care from our Oxfordshire store, sending you a little bundle of sunshine!
Visit us
You can find our beautiful physical storefront in the heart of Banbury, Oxfordshire, located inside Lock29 - a vibrant, bustling hub of independent foodies and creative retail traders.
We’d love for you to step inside, get inspired, and experience our colourful collections in real life. Come say hello and pick up your next dopamine hit in person! ✨
