Our First Market Experience – Essence Home's Big Day Out!

What a day! After weeks of planning, preparing, and some last-minute panics, Essence Home made its debut at Brighton Open Market – and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how it went!

If you know us, you’ll know this was a big moment. Essence Home started as a dream of bringing sustainable, stylish home decor into more people's lives, and now we’re finally out there, meeting our wonderful customers face-to-face. We felt so emotional seeing all of our products laid out in front of us.

The Buzz Before the Market

The excitement really kicked in the night before the event. We did a practice table display and took photos - so we could remember how we wanted the overall aesthetic to look. The candles were packed, cushions fluffed, throws folded, and all of the other bits packed neatly into the box. We may have had a few butterflies (okay, more than a few!), but mostly we were so excited to share what we’ve worked so hard on.

Would people love our products? Would the candles draw them in with their beautiful natural scents? It was a mixture of hope and anticipation, but we were ready for whatever the day would bring!

Setting Up – Our Own Little Haven

Brighton Open Market has such a vibrant, creative atmosphere – the perfect place to introduce Essence Home! The stall setup was like crafting a mini version of how our shop would look - if we had bricks and mortar. We wanted our stall to feel like a little pocket of ‘us’ in the midst of all the market buzz – and it worked!

Shoppers couldn’t resist stopping to touch the cushions, and children shrieking with excitement at seeing the gorgeous Christmas decorations, and of course, having a sniff of our soy wax candles. It was so lovely to see people connecting with the products in person – something that’s hard to replicate online!

The Best Part – Meeting You!

The best part of the whole day? Meeting you! We had such wonderful conversations with people who love home decor and sustainable living as much as we do. We heard stories about the challenges of finding eco-friendly pieces that don’t compromise on style, and it felt amazing to say, “That’s what Essence Home is all about!”

We met some lovely fellow market traders, who had been trading at the market for a while and they made us feel so welcome.

A special shoutout to those who picked up something special from our collection. Knowing that our products will become a part of your homes is a feeling that’s hard to describe. We’re beyond grateful for your support – and for sharing your excitement with us.

Looking Ahead

With the success of our first market under our belts, we’re already buzzing with ideas for the next event (hello, Great Missenden Christmas Market!), with products that would be a perfect Christmas gift! 

We couldn’t have asked for a better start, and this is only the beginning. Thank you to everyone who came by, chatted, and showed Essence Home some love. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us next – and we’d love to have you along for the ride.
